At the close of World War I, Albert A. Weiss Jr. joined his father in the manufacturing of glass thermometers for industrial use. The factory was moved from the original shop on Chambers Street in Manhattan to a converted carriage house on Vanderbilt Avenue in Brooklyn. Business increased greatly due to an expanded product line, including pressure and temperature measuring instruments and controls for all types of industrial applications.
The third and fourth generations of Weiss Instruments found a home in West Babylon, Long Island.
On March 28, 2000 Weiss Instruments relocated from West Babylon, NY
to Holtsville, Long Island, NY.
On March 1, 2022 Weiss Instruments was acquired by Miljoco Corp., LLC, with all manufacturing of Weiss product relocated to our facility in Mount Clemens, Michigan.
Just as it was in 1882, for over 100 years the Weiss name has been synonymous with quality and reliability. Whether you require instruments for temperature, humidity or pressure monitoring, the Weiss line offers a full range of outstanding products from which to choose. We are committed to quality and responsive service, factors so necessary in today's business climate.
Allow us to introduce you to Albert A. Weiss the 1st circa 1880. We admit to adding the sleepwear and the candle but the face is real. We do this to make a point. Mr. Weiss would never have imagined that his name brand thermometer would operate by candle light (one foot candle to be exact). Did you know that the OSHA standard for minimum light levels in mechanical rooms is 10 foot candles?
So the next time a potential customer asks if a Weiss Light Powered Digital Thermometer will have sufficient light, tell them what Mr. Weiss would have said . . .
